Open element furnace 230x230x460- Various models available prices from R16 000 subject to special order allow 2 weeks to manufacture
Hobby Craft Range
We believe this range represents the best compromise between technical integrity, economic value and thermal efficiency.
Construction
The Hobby Craft top loading range is fabricated from .7 mm stainless steel providing resistance to corrosion.
A separate powder coated, angle iron stand is provided to give easy working height. 76 mm of K23 low thermal mass brick, provide the hot face insulation backed up by 13 mm of ceramic fibre blanket.
A vent (bung) is located in the side of the kiln to allow cone observation (if required) and coupled with a lid vent, when removed allows for convection to occur through the kiln for both removal of volatiles and moisture during the firing and an increased cooling rate (if desired) after firing is complete.
A separate loose lid with lapped brickwork, creating an excellent thermal seal.
Rascal 145 alloy element wire is specified for the elements with close attention to design detail, giving very good element life. Close attention has been given to element layout, providing excellent gradient firing characteristics.
Temperature control Hobby-Craft range
The standard Hobby Craft kiln is provided with an ORTON Digital programmable temperature controller, allowing a selection of NINE multi stage programmes (with 8 ramps, 8 set points and eight soaks in each programme)
The instrument is ambient temperature compensating and comes with an open circuit protection, switching the kiln off in the case of the thermocouple being damaged or burning out. Power switching to the elements is via a contactor. There is also a delay start facility.
The standard kiln uses a heavy gauge 3.2mm diameter type (k) chromel – alumel bead and wire thermocouple. The entire control system is mounted in a control box, which is mounted on the kiln
Ā TOP LOADERS STUDIO RANGE
Studio Range
We believe this range to be the epitome of the kiln building art, focusing on design, function and reliability without compromise. Every part of the kiln has been rigorously tested and with continuous research and development has resulted in the kilns you see today.
Construction
The Studio top-loading range is fabricated (wrapped) in 0.7 stainless steel providing resistance to corrosion.
A robustly engineered hinged lid and a hood (lid) stay, lid, top and base (powder coated) stainless steel support bands for extra rigidity and strength.
The kiln is mound on wheels for easy mobility. 76 mm Thermal Ceramics K23 low thermal mass brick provides the hot face insulation backed up by 13 mm of ceramic fibre.
A vent (bung) is located in the side of the kiln to allow cone observation (if required) and coupled with a lid vent, when removed allows for convection to occur through the kiln for both removal of volatiles and moisture during the firing and an increased cooling rate (if desired) after firing is complete.
The lid is coupled with sturdy engineered hinges and during construction, lapping of the bricks, provides an excellent thermal seal.
