Torches:
There are a number of torches to choose from which can often create confusion. First decide which gases you will be using:
LPG & Oxygen- The Brass torch is a great option for general soldering.
Acetylene & Oxygen- Art torch for high heat fine detail .
LPG only - The Orca torch is super easy to use.
Melting requires LPG & Oxygen & this kit has a full set up with regulators & hoses too.

Flux is needed to clean your surface area, applied with either a natural hair paint brush or a dispenser onto your item before & during soldering. Or use a paste of easy flow flux mixed with water. Easy flow flux can also be sprinkled into your crucible before melting to help clean the impurities.

Smelting Consumables:
Borax is used to prepare crucibles before melting & pouring into your ingot .
See this step by step blog here :

Ideal for soldering on fine electronics or even basic wax carving ,sculpting & tree sprueing. Works well with plastic, perspex, wood & low melting point metals. 200°C ~ 380°C temperature setting.

No hands?
Battling to hold items, apply flux & solder at the same time? Use tweezers to hold your items ,these have a special fiber handle to avoid burning your fingers. We also stock third hands on a base for easy use at your solder station too.
Crickey which crucible?
The are many shapes & styles of crucibles which cause confusion on which to use with what. You get a straight side crucibles that fit into a special tongs with holder. Or round lip bowl type that work with scissor like tongs then, not as popular are the square crucibles. Other crucibles in our range are for machines like casting crucibles & graphite crucibles.
Board or Bored?
Do all the variations on soldering surfaces bore you to death..... Keep it simple. Use a Skamolex board as a base to solder on, along with a charcoal block or honeycomb block to distribute the heat evenly. We also have ceramic trays which are wonderful for high temp alloys like palladium & platinum.
Often carving in wax is so much easier than making the item directly in metal. The general tools needed are wax files, dividers, spiral wax blades, ring wax sizer, wax carvers and then the wax. There are a variety of waxes depending on what you need to achieve: Slices, slab, ring wax tubes , sheet wax or round wires.

We stock a vast selection for all your casting needs. From the Rhino software to create your CAD designs to the Panther rendering package, the 3D printer & resins, to the casting machinery like the well known Per cast OR Centrifugal set up along with the kilns, investment powders, silicon and all the waxes you will need. You can shop to you hearts content!
