Surface Finishing

Most plating is done by a chemical process known as electroplating. The item of jewellery is placed in a tank containing a chemical solution & an anode. By passing an electric current through the solution, a specific amount of metal is deposited onto the jewellery.
Plate your jewellery with a variety of colours like rose or yellow gold, silver, black or white rhodium. This bath or pen plating solution process deposits a thickness of less than 0.2 microns. Try out our Italian Berkem range that is free from nickel & other allergenic substances like cyanide.
We have a collection of plating accessories for plating your jewellery.
The
titanium anode gets attached to your cord plating set. Clean your item with the electro cleaning degreasing salts. The compact size plating machine comes with black & red crocodile clip cord set & has an optional  plating pen & felt nibs.
Your options to polish jewellery are vast with a wide array of machines & hand held tools. Ideal for removing uneven surfaces, preparing for final polishing with abrasive wheels, burs, bits & then lastly polish mops charged with abrasive compounds for giving the high finish & lustre.
Achieve a high shine on your jewellery creations with our selection of machinery for on top of your bench or a hanging motor. Paired up with the correct accessory and polish to create your desired finish. The 3000 RPM 200 Watt bench polishing motor to guarantee a mirror-like finish or the Foredom suspension motor kit that comes with a standard #30 handpiece and accesories to get you started.

A textured metal finish can be achieved in a variety of different ways & can take a number of hours or a matter of minutes to obtain, depending on your technique of choice. There are endless ways to create texture on metal, limited only by the imagination or inventiveness of the jewellery maker.
Texturing metal with hammers is a fun, relatively easy & inexpensive way of adding interest to a jewellery piece. Starting with the texturing hammer that has 12 interchangeable heads in different patterns. Great for all metal crafts & very versatile. The dimple & stripe hammer can give a more random or abstract look on your metal.  Create a light texture effect with the swiss wooden handle hammer that can also be used for planishing or shaping metal.
There are so many different effects & textures that can be achieved on metals with the right tools. Get into the tricky curved areas with the sandpaper stick - half round or use the ready made buff sticks to speed up the process, discard & replace with new sheets when the sandpaper grit has come off. If you want to give your jewellery a contrasting textured look the diamond burs do the trick! Or refine edges & surfaces on most metals with silicone rubber wheels. Scotchbrite midget buffs are also perfect for an even brushed finish.
