Know your pliers & what they do: This month we focus on pliers & how they can help us on the bench,you can never just have one plier that does the job - every shape has their own special function. So here is some advice to narrow down the list to make the perfect set!
Shaping or Bending?
Use the correct plier to create the perfect form :
Sharp bends or angles ( flat plier)
Rounded corners ( round plier)
Longer curves ( half round)
Ring closing plier:
A high quality plier that takes a strip of metal & bends it round. By opening, closing the plier & shifting the strip along it creates a perfect circle for you to solder easily without damaging your surface.

Bale pliers:
These pliers are very handy for creating perfectly round forms that do not taper like the conventional round nose plier. They ideal for bending shepard hooks, pendant bales, hook eye clasps, tube settings.
Wrap & Tap Plier: Each plier with three parallel straight cylinders - Available in two sizes pliers. Great for making short coiled wire ends or jump rings, tube settings, bales or hooks.
Top Tip!
Do you find when bending your wire or plate you damage it? By using masking tape over the mouth of your pliers, or thin leather on your ring bending plier will help protect your metal! Try out a special coating dip called colour guard. Dip any plier mouth into this dip for protection or handle to colour code your shapes or style of plier , file or buffsitck.
