A blue fluoresces, may be a positive factor since the diamond will look whiter. Yellow is usually a negative indication. Cleaning diamonds: Trying to clean diamonds removed from old jewellery without them constantly getting lost and trying to fish them out of the ultrasonic? Put them into a zip lock bag with some cleaning solution and straight into the ultrasonic. Pure alcohol can also be used to clean the stones properly.

Using a loupe: The proper way to use a loupe is to hold the loupe close to your eye with your hand making contact with your face so the first knuckle on your thumb is firmly pressed against your cheek and the glass is positioned directly over your eye, with your other hand, move the ring or stone to within 2-3cm of the lens. Keep the hand holding the loupe steady. Don’t move it. Move the ring or stone in or out until it comes into focus, again. You will want to flip the diamond on its table and then you can easily clamp it by the girdle. If you find that you have trouble holding the diamond, there are self-locking tweezers that make it easier for you to handle the diamond.
