Safety first:
Always wear the correct protective gear when using chemicals- Leather apron, thick gloves, goggles. It is also important to have the right ventilation in your workspace.

TIps for your workshop:
  • Instead of using a dangerous acid to quench your metal into try out our pickle salt
     or Alum
  • Ultrasonic cleaner - mersolve- an excellent and affordable concentrate for very dirty jewellery.
  • Do you know how to prep your crucible before using it the first time? Click here to find out more.
  • When oxidising metal remember it will go darker if the oxidising solution is heated or the metal item is heated.
Neutralize:
Acids typically have a sour taste & a pH less than 7. To neutralize them, use a weak base. There are two types of acids: mineral (inorganic) acids such as sulfuric, hydrochloric or nitric, and carboxylic (organic) acids such as formic or acetic.
Many different products aid in the neutralization of acids and bases. They can be as simple as a bag of citric acid or sodium bicarbonate, or as complex as a solidifier & neutralizer combined.
Take proper precautions as recommended by the neutralizer’s manufacturer.
